Why do we need Family Advocate & Transportation

A Family Advocate and Transporter is essential for ensuring that tribal families have equal access to resources, support, and opportunities—especially during times of hardship or transition. Many families may face barriers such as lack of transportation, limited understanding of available services, or complex systems that are hard to navigate alone.

By offering compassionate guidance, advocacy, and transportation, this role helps strengthen family stability, protect the rights of children (especially in ICWA-related matters), and improve overall wellness within the Moapa Band of Paiutes community.

Transportation Request Form

A Regular Transport Request is used when you can’t or are unable to utilize the regular transport scheduled days. Whether you had a scheduling conflict, you missed the day you scheduled, or the transport van was already fully booked.

Special Transport Request Form

A Special Transport Request is used when the need for transport is different than the use of regular transport dates in that your request is for a special event. It can be a request for a single person or family (dependent on the seats of the vehicle).

Transportation Service Guidlines

Regular Transport’s main purpose is a chance for you to pick up mail, packages, prescriptions, groceries, schedule appointments, pay bills etc. You can ask to stop for hot and ready food on the way home or throughout the trip, if all parties are agreed

ICWA Guidlines

These guidelines are intended to assist those involved in child custody proceedings in understanding and uniformly applying the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and U.S. Department of the Interior (Department) regulations (also referred to as a “rule”).
